St. Luke Hospital and Nursing Home
Investing Now for a Healthy Future!
THE PROJECT
The St. Luke Hospital Investing Now for a Healthy Future building campaign includes
(1) the construction of a new hospital wing,
(2) the renovation of the existing building, and
(3) the purchase of updated medical equipment.
The new construction will house radiology, the emergency room, and twenty-five new private patient rooms (twenty inpatient rooms, two critical care inpatient rooms, three birthing suites), and state of the art nurses' station. The new birthing suites will allow for mothers to labor, deliver, and recover in one very comfortable and private location. The birthing area has an adjacent cesarean section room to accommodate timely response to patients requiring this procedure. The emergency department, which is the busiest in Lake County Montana, will have five treatment areas, a safe room for psychiatric patients, a decontamination area for anyone exposed to a chemical spill, and a Convenient Care Clinic for those who don't require an Emergency Room visit but who are unable to get into to see their doctor immediately. Currently there is no chapel or reflection room. This project will include expanded space for patients and visitors in the waiting area and the addition of a reflection room, thus improving the quality of the patient experience.
The renovation portion of the project will increase space currently being utilized by the laboratory, cardiopulmonary, physical therapy, medical records and cafeteria departments. The goal is to (1) place ambulatory outpatient care services such as imaging and cardiopulmonary in one central area near the entrance and, (2) make a separation between clinical areas and public areas for patient privacy.
In addition, the total project will provide for
(1) better traffic flow between the emergency room, hospital, clinic and patient rooms,
(2) conference rooms for medical training and community health education programs and
(3) an area for medical services provided by visiting or local specialists.
Construction will be completed in two phases. Phase I will consist of the construction of the new building (61,000 sq. ft.). Phase II will consist of the renovation of the existing building (30,000 sq. ft.).
The project is budgeted at $28,941,000. Funding will be provided by the issuance of long-term debt through a tax-exempt bond issue. The hospital will provide funds of $6,641,000. The Foundation will provide $1,500,000.
