Ronan is located (map) in the scenic Northwest region of Montana just 15 miles from Flathead lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississipi. Centrally located in the beautiful Mission Valley in the shadow of the majestic Mission Mountains, Ronan offers spectacular views and outdoor recreation activities. Although the Mission Mountains climb to 10,000 feet, the valley floor is only 3,000 feet above sea level, a combination that gives residents the luxury of living in the mountains without the harsh winter effects of high altitude living.

Mission Mountains

In addition to the slower pace of a rural lifestyle, Ronan is just 50 miles from the second largest city in the state, Missoula, home to the University of Montana and all of the amenities of urban living. 70 miles North of Ronan is the "Crown of the Continent", the unspoiled Glacier National Park with hundreds of miles of hiking trails.

However, one need not leave the valley to enjoy fishing and hiking as the Mission Mountain Wilderness Area Provides opportunities for getting back to nature, breathing clean air, and experiencing the recreational lifestyle many move to Montana to enjoy. Between Kalispell, 70 miles north, through the Mission Valley to Missoula on the south, golfers can chose among 10 different golf courses. And, while the mountains, the rivers and the lake provide an abundance of summer activities in addition to golf, winter gives outdoor enthusiasts plenty of opportunities from big game hunting in the fall, to cross country skiing, to down-hill skiing at one of four ski-resorts within 90 miles of Ronan.

Lake County boasts a population of over 25,000 friendly Montanans and just about any kind of wildlife you may want to find.
